SOLVOCARB®

Offering a range of economical and ecological pH control systems, adjustable to all flow and alkaline pH adjustment levels required for water treatment applications

Our SOLVOCARB® offering is an environmentally friendly alternative to mineral acids. It uses carbon dioxide (CO2) gas in order to neutralise alkaline waters. CO2 is an effective, safe and cost-effective means of pH control that forms no harmful by-products and does not require specialist handling, storage or safety systems.

When dissolved in water, carbon dioxide forms carbonic acid and reduces the pH value to the appropriate level, allowing wastewater to be discharged into sewer networks or outlet channels. Our SOLVOCARB® CO2 neutralisation process equipment can be applied to process and drinking water. SOLVOCARB® improves safety and enhances your overall environmental performance by reducing the use of mineral acids on site and enabling CO2 to be recycled.

Supporting the full project lifecycle

We have a number of carbon dioxide systems that directly inject CO2 in gaseous form or, for an even faster reaction, as an aqueous carbonic acid mixture. Our SOLVOCARB® family is ideal for remineralisation, recarbonation, pH control of raw blended waters, alkaline wastewater and process water, and calcite solubility control. Regardless of your individual water treatment application, you can rely on our experts to support you at every stage of your treatment project, from the process design and build phase, through installation and commission to pilot trials.

Key features of SOLVOCARB®
  • Efficient use of CO2
  • Easy to install and use
  • Fully automatic PLC for pH, flow and other process signals
  • Accurate control of CO2 dosing and pH control
  • Automated design for minimal operator input and maintenance
  • Adaptable to suit individual flow and pH requirements
  • Complete process train and turnkey packages

All SOLVOCARB® systems are offered with a carbon dioxide supply scheme as standard, based on bulk deliveries or gaseous cylinder delivery systems, depending on your volume requirements.

SOLVOCARB® B

The SOLVOCARB® B submerged diffuser hose produces streams of fine bubbles from tiny pores along the length of the hose. No additional energy is required for the hose and it can be used very effectively with existing aeration systems. When the hose is under pressure, the holes expand to allow the passage of gas into wastewater and when the pressure drops, the holes close up again. This is the most cost-effective solution for deep tanks.

Key features of SOLVOCARB® B
  • Low investment cost
  • No external energy supply required
  • Highly flexible carbon dioxide transfer
  • Fast, easy installation, even in filled tanks
  • Easy adaptation to any tank shape
  • Ideal for medium-deep to deep water
  • No clogging of pores, even after long periods of non-operation
  • Maintenance-free
  • Silent, environmentally friendly operation
  • Solution for emergency, temporary and long-term use

SOLVOCARB® D

Our SOLVOCARB® D in-line gas injection system is designed for use with a pressurised pipe that transfers alkaline wastewater. It uses a spherical-head nozzle to inject gaseous carbon dioxide directly into pressurised pipes. The gas resides in the pipe, dissolving through the turbulence and pressure. Due to the high solubility of CO2 in water and fast reaction rates with alkaline water, SOLVOCARB® D usually eliminates the need for a static in-line mixer. It can be used with a recycle pumped sidestream to treat in-batch or continuous flow-through configurations. SOLVOCARB® D can also be effectively used with drinking water applications, forming an effective solution for pH control and bicarbonate / carbonate balance.

Key features of SOLVOCARB® D
  • No additional energy source needed
  • No chemical additives
  • Low investment costs
  • Low operating cost
  • Maintenance during operations
  • Non-clogging design
  • Compatible with a wide range of process fluids
  • uitable for applications using O2 or CO2

SOLVOCARB® A

SOLVOCARB® A is a venturi dissolver mixer that combines superior carbon dioxide mass transfer efficiency with a low pressure drop. Used in conjunction with either pumped or gravity-fed systems, it can provide high rates of mass transfer coupled with extremely good uptake efficiency. Suitable for freshwater or water with a high level of total dissolved solids (TDS), it is ideal for a wide range of water treatment applications where CO2 needs to be dissolved and accurate pH is essential. This application is not offered in all our operating countries; please contact us for more information.

Key features of SOLVOCARB® A
  • Ideal CO2 utilisation and high dissolution efficiency rates
  • Flexible range of gas dosing rates and pipework operating pressures
  • Retrofit-ready for existing hydraulic systems
  • Ready for rapid deployment and can be assembled in operational tanks
  • Externally mounted for access and ease of maintenance
  • Low energy consumption
  • Robust design for low maintenance and consistent performance

SOLVOCARB® R

SOLVOCARB® R is a proven, versatile technology that can be used with drinking water or wastewater applications. This series of pressurised reactors is the most efficient method of adding dissolved carbon dioxide to remineralise, re-carbonate or control the pH of raw waters.

Key features of SOLVOCARB® R
  • Extremely high levels of CO2 dissolution
  • Carbonic acid solution with few or no bubbles
  • No moving parts
  • Installation outside of basin for ease of maintenance
  • Suited to plastic, stainless steel and carbon steel pipework
  • Low noise level
  • Suited to in-line or sidestream modes
  • Suitable for internal or external use
